Rev David Simpson – Honorary Assistant Priest

The Revd David Simpson was born in London, read Theology at Durham University and trained for the Ministry at Salisbury & Wells Theological College. Prior to Ordination, he enjoyed working in Central London at the Church Commissioners and the Church Urban Fund. He served his curacies in North Yorkshire and at nearby Romsey Abbey, before serving as Anglican Chaplain to the University of Southampton. David is currently a Chaplain in the Royal Navy, where he’s deployed to the South Atlantic, the Baltic, the Middle-East and Far East, as well as all parts of UK territorial waters; he now serves at HMS SULTAN, the home of Naval Engineering.

At St Mary’s, David has been working in partnership with the Diocese and Scripture Union to develop our existing Youth & Children’s Work and engaged with local schools to launch ‘Connect,’ a Friday night Youth Group.  Much of his Ministry has focused on accompanying people in their Faith questions and the development of Adult Faith Education. His interests include: Classical Concerts and the Theatre (as time allows), Historical Research, KS2 Homework and dog-walking with Max, a small pug with a big personality!
